Case Study on the Product Assortment, Distribution & Implementation for ASICS

Abstract

The model of distribution of apparels and fashion products to retailers or franchises is one of the most important factors that defines the performance of a brand in a competitive market. There are various methods for distribution and assortment which are usually integrated with a brand’s business model. The nature of this distribution model depends upon a complex interaction of various parameters like the region of business, demography, income brackets, contracts, fashion trends, accessibility, etc. The effects of these factors on the sell through data or consumption pattern will thus provide a guideline in developing an efficient and smart distribution model for the products. This case study aims to describe a methodology that will help our clients ASICS to standardise the assortment process and distribution matrix for their associated franchises and retailer brand outlets.

Results

We helped our client to tackle the challenge with our Field Booking product. We developed a unique solution for our client. ASICS

ASICS is a Japanese multinational corporation which produces footwear and sports equipment designed for a wide range of sports. It dates back to 1949 when Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano", which when translated expresses the ancient ideal of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body. Since then ASICS has been producing innovative sports products, solutions and technologies to help athletes and active consumers achieve their goals.
